History

The history began in 1919 With the founding of Robertstown GFC. Situated in the centre of the parish of Allen, the club shares the parish with three other football clubs, Allenwood, Ballyteague and Milltown. The founding members were Pat Byrne and Paddy McCormack.

The club’s first silverware was won in 1934 when the club defeated Maynooth in the Junior final and again in 1939 when they defeated Rheban. The club entered a fallow period until a revival in the 1960’s with Paddy Lawlor, Tom Scully and Patrick Moran, later joined by Maurice Musgrave and Tom Moran as driving forces, winning Junior “C” in 1980, Junior “B” in 1983 and Junior “A” in 1989 and 2011.

In 1981 the club purchased its current grounds, “Maurice Musgrave Park” on the Brockagh Road. The club grounds now include the Clubhouse, Dressing Rooms, Meeting Rooms, Floodlit Adult and Underage pitches, Floodlit Astroturf pitch, Gym, and a floodlit Walking/Running track around the perimeter. In 2018 the addition of a lady’s section to the club has proven to be very successful and continues to go from strength to strength.
